Using Social Media Effectively As An Author

Guest Post by Stan Popovich

It seems nowadays that social media is the hottest trend for many people. Here are some steps on how authors can effectively reach their fans base using social media.

An author must have an idea of the kind of people who buy their books. Many authors try to market their books to everybody, however the fact of the matter is that you need to have a good understanding of who your customers are.  Do some research before getting into the social media aspect of your business.

Secondly, an author must develop a strategy on how to reach their fans. Authors must determine what kinds of marketing techniques they can use to promote their books and does this involve social media.  Many people use social media without any idea on how to effectively keep in touch with their fans.

The next step is for the author to determine which social media application is best for their business. The main social media platforms each have their own ways of reaching certain people. Study each of these applications and determine which is best for your business.

An author also needs to determine how much time he or she needs to use social media in their marketing plans. It all depends on your marketing goals. Do what is best for your book business.

Once you reach your fans through social media, determine what kinds of results you are getting. Talk to your fans and see what they think. Ask your audience if they have other ideas on how best to reach them. An author’s marketing strategy changes all the time. Keep abreast on any new developments in the social media field.
